a farmer plants the seeds
of old varieties
an old man has a smile
for each neighbour that he sees
a child walks to school
in hand me down shoes
they’re building new bike lanes
i’ve just heard this on the news
there’s hope for the world
I’m seein’ it every day

it hasn’t quite slipped away
there’s hope for the world
we can still make it through

it’s in me and it’s in you
there’s beauty in the way
a cobbler knows his craft
he brings back to life
our soles worn down to half
