Compassion
written by: Coco Love Alcorn / 2007
compassion — is what we need
compassion — gonna set us free
compassion — there’s a way to find
compassion — in your heart and mind
hey-ey-ey-ey-ey
we got a lot goin’ on
in the world today
makin’ it hard
to find the way
try’na do right
but somethin’s wrong
feels like we’re all bein’
led along
chorus
hey-ey-ey-ey-ey
you’re not ready to say
that you’re givin’ up
but so little you do
seems good enough
(you’re) reachin’ in
and you’re reachin’ out
n’ with your voice
gettin’ ready to shout
chorus
if you wanna be a teacher
teach with a mind that still learns
if you wanna be a preacher
preach with a heart that still yearns
if you wanna be a lover
love with a fire that still burns
and if you wanna be a leader
you gotta live in the world that still turns
hey-ey-ey-ey-ey
feels good
to lift it up
when you’re feellin’ down
I once was lost
but now I’m found
my brothers and sisters
who all agree
say “I was blind
but now I see”
chorus
you gotta live (live), live (live)
in the world that still turns
you gotta live (live), live (live)
in the world that still turns

I heard “Compassion” on a documentary I saw on LINK TV and I thought it was wonderfully done and the words are so right on and I wanted it. I found “Joyful” at Amazon and bought it. Joyful turned out to be a huge gift. I adore “Intellectual Boys”.
Now I am looking for sheet music for “Compassion” to give to my granddaughter. She takes voice lessons and I want her to learn to sing this piece of music for me. I have never asked her for anything (she lives with me) but I want this.
Ms. Alcorn your music is more than beatutiful.
